The theme of the 17th World Congress of the European Association for Palliative Care is “Exploring New Dimensions”.
The EAPC congress provides an excellent time and place to step back and reflect on progress we have made, and to consider the best ways forward. This is your chance to meet colleagues, and to be inspired and re-energised.
The 17th World Congress “Exploring New Dimensions” will give you the opportunity to be re-energised; to hear about exciting innovations and progress from within our palliative care community, as well as valuable contributions from the wider services and communities with whom we work.

As part of this year’s congress, the Scientific Committee and the EAPC’s Children and Young People Task Force Steering Group have again planned an entire day dedicated to paediatrics, full of meaningful and challenging content.
This year’s two plenary speakers are:
Richard Hain, a paediatric palliative care doctor, from Wales
Joana Mendes, a neonatology palliative nurse, from Portugal.
Coming from different backgrounds, their interests converge in their advanced studies in ethics, and they will be stimulating us to think about the ethical boundaries in palliative care. Dr Hain, co-author of the Oxford Specialist Handbook of Paediatric Palliative Medicine, will also provide an overview of his practical approach to symptom control at the end of life. Further programme details will follow shortly.
