27th Nordic Congress of Gerontology (NKG)

Welcome to the 27th Nordic Congress of Gerontology (NKG) in Stockholm, Sweden, June 12-14, 2024.

On behalf of the Swedish Gerontological Society, the Swedish Geriatric Association, Karolinska Institutet, and the Nordic Gerontological Federation (NGF), you are invited to join the 27th Nordic Congress of Gerontology (NKG) to share your knowledge and engagement with ageing in a transforming world.

About the congress

The Nordic Congress of Gerontology (NKG) was originally a Nordic congress but has since developed into a significant ageing conference that draws attendees worldwide while maintaining its relaxed Nordic vibe. The 27th edition will be held at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, on 12–14 June 2024, under the theme “Ageing in a transforming world”.

Programme

At the 27th NKG congress, we want to explore how researchers from different scientific disciplines and practitioners can come together to bring new insights that facilitate better living conditions for older adults and contribute to the sustainable development of current and future generations. We believe that the Nordic countries can take a more active role in promoting healthy ageing globally. This includes being forerunners in research and practice on increasingly important issues with implications for older adults, such as equity, global health, living conditions, migration, welfare technology, and the organisation of health and social care.

NKG 2024 will provide a range of presentation forms, including keynotes, symposia, oral presentations, and topic-specific poster tours. In addition, there will be spotlight sessions, where invited experts will discuss key themes creatively and engagingly.

The congress dinner, at Münchenbryggeriet in Södermalm, will feature live entertainment as part of a pleasant social programme. For those of you coming from afar, we truly hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy all that Stockholm has to offer, including its tourist attractions, shopping districts, nightlife, and picturesque surroundings.

Who is it for?

We welcome multidisciplinary contributions reflecting the scientific pillars of the Nordic Gerontological Federation, i.e., biological and medical sciences; behavioural and social sciences; humanities and art; as well as health/social policy and practice.

We invite scholars, professionals, policymakers, NGOs, and other stakeholders to explore questions related to ageing in a world of profound transformations. Plenary lectures, symposia, oral sessions, posters, and exhibitions will reflect themes from different scientific disciplines and practice, on topics relevant to gerontology and geriatrics. We welcome multidisciplinary contributions reflecting the pillars of the NGF’s scientific orientations: behavioural and social sciences; biological, health and medical sciences; humanities; social research, policy, and practice. There will also be an enjoyable social programme.
